The Garden Village is located adjoining larger settlements to provide sustainable access to a wider range of facilities. The design and principles of the Garden Village are focused upon reducing the need to travel by private car.
The site is located within walking distance/cycling to major employment centres and on a high-quality public transport route into the City centre. In addition, the scheme seeks to give priority to walking/cycling and public. transport and contains at its heart a public transport hub in the form of the park and ride site. The design also focuses upon providing links to adjoining centres to support greater access to walking and cycling and move way from an area dominated by cars by supporting greater crossings along the A390 and the removal of unnecessary traffic from the adjoining quite lanes.
