There is no set format for what a Garden Village is, though guidance is provided on a series of principles which developments should follow. Each scheme should respond to its own unique context rather than a formulaic approach. The Garden Village approach has always been one of connected communities with links to existing communities. For example, unless a development is much larger, town scale, it is unlikely to generate sufficient demand to support a secondary school, so smaller Garden Villages are developments which link and support existing larger towns.
