Last year we set up our own tree nursery at Langarth so we can grow our own trees for planting into their final location in the Garden Village.
We will be planting 55,000 new trees and a new woodland area at Langarth as part of the Council’s plans to create a Forest for Cornwall, to fight climate change and help Cornwall strive towards becoming carbon neutral. The trees will also provide food, shelter, shade and nesting and roosting sites for wildlife
Creating a Garden Village means putting nature at the heart of a development. At Langarth we are actively working with our partners to protect, enhance and provide new opportunities for wildlife and nature.
Thousands of saplings have already been planted at the tree nursery.
During the past few weeks members of the project team and pupils from Threemilestone Primary School have also helped to plant hundreds more.
We have installed a water irrigation system at the nursery and have sourced water for the trees via an on-site borehole.
Keen to see how our trees are doing we visited the tree nursery. Here are some pictures from our visit.
We have also produced some short videos about our tree planting activities which you can watch here: .
